This study compared preoperative coagulation in patients with bicuspid (BAV) versus tricuspid aortic valves (TAV) undergoing thoracic aortic surgery, finding no major differences in ROTEM or conventional coagulation tests. Although TAV patients required more transfusions, this was attributed to confounding factors rather than valve morphology, indicating no need for adjusted coagulation management in BAV patients.
